Lewmar's New V-Sport Windlass

HAVANT, U.K.- The world’s premier leisure marine equipment supplier, Lewmar will be introducing a new lightweight, yet durable composite windlass in ‘08.

The Lewmar V-Sport Windlass is designed for boaters who want all the features that come standard with a V1 windlass in a lighter, more affordable package.

Like the original V1 Windlass, the new V-Sport also employs a robust, reliable worm gearbox to offer maximum strength and control. With a maximum pull of 1,000 lbs., the V-Sport takes both rope-chain and all chain anchor rodes at the touch of a button.

Housed in lightweight composite housing over a body of marine-grade aluminum, the V-Sport is the same size as the V1 and is FastFit™ equipped. FastFit™ ensures quick, hassle-free installation and proper drive shaft alignment and for maximum strength and control. The V-Sport’s FastFit™ technology speeds up the installation process by clamping the drive shaft of the deck unit to the gearbox below deck in one of eight positions with the unique FastFit™ clamp.

Just like the V1, the V-Sport Windlass is poised to be one of the most compact vertical stainless steel windlasses on the market today with a length of just 227 mm (8.9-in.) and width of 161 mm (6.3-in).
